Tatiana & Vasily

When we first got an email from Ukraine asking us to film at an Ukrainian wedding, we were very honoured and surprised! But we actually had no clue what to expect from such a wedding.

And Google didn’t tell us much more about it either. We just had to wait and see…

And then, it was June 15th 2013. The day had come. Remi dropped me of at the ‘Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg’ in Santpoort, and he drove of to Amsterdam so we could both film with preparations of the bride and groom separately. Preparations are always about the same with any kind of cultural background; firstly it’s relaxed, people schedule enough time in for this part. But at the end of it time is always running out. Which always make the bride and groom slightly nervous!

Nonetheless it was a beautiful sunny but windy day, which was perfect for us. Windy days make beautiful film shots ;-).
It was a day packed with loads of Ukrainian traditions which was so beautiful and sometimes so funny to see. Most beautiful part was actually the lighting of the candles, and placing it in the water while the host was telling a beautiful story. But unfortunately we couldn’t understand a word, because it was in Ukrainian which we obviously don’t speak. AlThough we couldn’t understand the words, we did feel the emotions and what the tradition is all about, which made it so beautiful even for us.

We tried to bring out all of the emotions of the day on film. And here is the result. To be honest we are quite proud of this weddingclip. Please enjoy!
